GREENTECH LAB

Greentech Lab is Teosport’s environmental awareness initiative. Launched in 2000, it is the driving force behind new developments. We aim to achieve peak technical and operational performance while protecting our fragile environment.

Being aware of sustainability issues is essential for us. We continuously improve and offer new products in line with current market demands. Teosport values innovation in its technological advancement and undertakes research to make sure it meets each customer’s needs in an environmentally friendly way.

To do this we analyze the entire life cycle of our products.

We examine every step of the entire production cycle, including design, manufacturing, packaging and shipping, to ensure that it leaves the least environmental impact on our ecosystem. Careful monitoring means that we notice and take immediate action to improve production processes to stay true to our original ecological philosophy. We also analyze contemporary methods to facilitate recycling at the end of a product’s life.

The main reasons we started the Greentech Lab process were to reduce emissions and air pollution, which are not only harmful to public health but also contribute negatively to climate change.

To work with Teosport, our suppliers must adopt these practices. It is important that they embody our core values and commitment to protecting the environment.

Some of the early results of our green efforts have been cost savings and waste reduction, achieved by reducing packaging, optimizing freight transportation, and separating waste to facilitate recycling. Additional initiatives have reduced overall energy and water consumption. Teosport also works hard to improve local work processes to protect its regional environment.

FABRICS AND FOAMS

The introduction of our Green Tech Lab means that your company and your customers can trust our Teosport products.

Our production planning offers us a unique opportunity. They allow us to assess all production processes in advance and measure their environmental impact. By doing so, we can analyze whether our fabrics, foams, and processes meet standards. The introduction of robotic machinery has enabled us to optimize production processes and further save energy.

Underscoring our dedication to these standards, Teosport submits its products for analysis at the Centrocot (Cotton Textile & Apparel Center for Production Process Testing and Certification). Materials and finished products undergo comprehensive testing and detailed analysis to ensure the ecological characteristics of our products and certify that they do not contain substances potentially harmful to people’s health.

We are proud to say that from 2003 to the present we have always obtained this certification, a symbol of quality.

Teosport’s annual OEKO-TEX® certification offers additional quality assurance. Textile manufacturing processes require fabrics to be treated with a wide range of chemicals, including stabilizers, acids, salts, oxidizers, flame retardants, and dyes. Many treatments can include potentially harmful substances that can leave chemical residues on the fabric, such as arsenic, nickel, chromium, copper, cadmium, lead, mercury, formaldehyde, and allergenic dyes. Thanks to this annual analysis, we can say that every Teosport fabric, foam and product meets OEKO-TEX® certification criteria.

RECYCLED, ECO-FRIENDLY AND BIODEGRADABLE FABRICS

Teosport GreenTech Lab guarantees to maintain the high technical performance of its products by staying up-to-date with the technologies, materials and processes that the market offers in order to stay abreast of products and production processes.

Teosport has been working for many years to combine maximum performance with minimal environmental impact. We have created a range of eco-sustainable products by using fabrics with recycled and biodegradable yarns or natural foams.

We must and will respect nature, recognizing that the planet’s resources are finite. Tens of millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans each year: UN estimates indicate that about 8 million tons of plastic waste ends up in the seas each year, with plastic accounting for the largest and most persistent share of marine litter.

These plastics come from a variety of sources-mismanaged municipal and industrial waste, discharges along rivers and coasts, and marine activities-and include both large visible objects and microplastic fragments that will persist in the environment for decades.
Turning collected waste into resources is key to addressing this environmental emergency: recovering beached plastics, marine litter, and river-borne debris allows for the reintroduction of circular raw material into the textile industry, reducing pollution and consumption of virgin resources.

One concrete step toward this change is the transformation of marine waste into useful resources. Teosport supports the SEAQUAL® initiative, which recovers polluting plastic from seas, rivers and coasts and turns it into a high-performance textile material.

SEAQUAL® YARN yarn is composed of about 10 percent recycled marine plastic (marine waste) and the remaining 90 percent post-consumer PET from land-based sources.

This mix guarantees excellent technical properties: flexibility, strength, durability and excellent quality, comparable to virgin polyester. In addition, the production process is fully traced and certified, from the recovery of marine plastic to the finished yarn.

Through the use of SEAQUAL®, we significantly reduce our environmental impact: compared to virgin yarn, there are savings in CO2, water and energy.

Since 2016, Teosport has collaborated with Sportwear Argentona to develop Marnets, a sustainable technical fabric made specifically with SEAQUAL® yarn. This fabric combines the high performance required for sportswear with a clear environmental commitment.

The new Teosport e-go fabric was created according to our needs and directions: we wanted to make something different and not on the market but environmentally friendly. We finally succeeded, and what came out is a fabric that is super soft, comfortable, highly breathable, and easy to clean, but most importantly, it is biodegradable. Made from Amni Soul Eco® yarn, the e-go fabric realizes Teosport’s ecological values.

It has a special composition that ensures accelerated decomposition in an anaerobic landfill if maintained under certain environmental conditions. In fact, it manages to completely eliminate itself in approx. 5 years, while a similar virgin synthetic fabric can take decades to decompose.

Amni Soul Eco® is a next-generation sustainable yarn created through a process in accordance with ecological principles: water reuse, limited CO2 emissions, and limitation of highly polluting substances.

It is biodegradable, according to ASTM D5511. Like other biodegradable products, Amni Soul Eco® decomposes in anaerobic landfills to turn into organic matter (biomass) and biogas, which can later be used as new resources for the environment and for electricity generation.

ECO-FRIENDLY FOAM

Teosport has undertaken research to take our protective and supportive products to the next level. Teosport already uses environmentally friendly foam, and our next improvement is foam that is both natural and safe for the environment.

The first moisture-regulating foam.

Cellpur® is the first environmentally friendly foam to contain TENCEL ™, a cellulosic fiber produced by Lenzing, Austria, from sustainably sourced wood using an environmentally friendly process.

Incorporating TENCEL ™ particles into cellpur® foam creates a high-quality polyurethane foam with excellent moisture regulation properties. These particles absorb up to 70 percent of their weight in moisture and act as temporary water reservoirs, removing it from the surrounding environment.

TENCEL ™ particles in cellpur® store moisture, which they promptly release, so they are again able to absorb new moisture. This continuous cycle provides a drier climate, perfect for use for cycling bottoms that are often bacterial lairs.

Cellpur® properties:
– Readily absorbs, stores and releases moisture so you stay drier
– High elasticity and resilience and superior comfort
– Great durability
– High breathability and air recycling
– Sustainability: TENCEL ™ particles are extracted from wood
– Suitable for allergy sufferers
